The safest way to apply for a cruise job is also the simplest: go to the cruise line’s own careers site. Here is where to find them and what to expect.

Type these addresses yourself or use the links above, rather than following links in unsolicited emails or messages. Some lines also hire through authorized partner agencies in particular countries; the line’s official site explains how that works for your nationality. Norwegian Cruise Line notes that roles on its U.S.-flagged Hawaii ship, Pride of America, have separate requirements, including eligibility for a U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential.

How Hiring Usually Works

  • Apply online on the official careers site or through a partner agency the line names.
  • Interview by video or in person, sometimes with a skills test or audition.
  • Offer in writing, with a clear position and terms.
  • Pre-joining requirements: medical examination, STCW training, background checks and any visas.
  • Joining the ship, often with travel arranged by the line, followed by familiarization training on board.

Tips for a Stronger Application

  • Tailor your resume to the exact role and describe your shoreside hospitality, culinary or technical experience clearly.
  • Highlight languages, customer-service results and any experience with international teams.
  • Keep your passport valid well beyond the contract length.
  • Answer honestly about health and background; medical and security checks follow.
  • Be patient. Hiring depends on ship deployment and can take time.

If anyone asks you to pay a fee to be “guaranteed” a place, stop and read our scam warning signs first.

What to Prepare Before You Apply

A focused resume

One or two pages, in English, listing relevant experience first, with dates, employers and responsibilities.

Passport

Valid for the length of a contract and beyond, with blank pages.

References

Contact details for recent supervisors who can confirm your experience.

Training records

Any STCW, food safety, first aid or professional certificates you already hold.

A professional photo

Some applications ask for one; follow the line’s instructions on format.

Availability

Be ready to say when you could join a ship and for how long.

Keep a simple record of every application: the line, the role, the date and the name of anyone you spoke with. If a message later claims to come from that line, you can check it against what you actually applied for.
